I really wanted to learn more about After Effects and its endless possibilities.
So, I did.

To do so, I selected a few aspects that I wanted to learn while making a short VALORANT edit:
- Text, mostly tracking and animation
- Colour correction
- Blurs and gradients
- Particles
- Camera movement
On top of that, I wanted it to be synced to a song.

I started with some inspiration:

After choosing some of my clips I cut them, muted them, synced them to the music and added back the sound effects. I wanted to share the edit before I added any effects to better visualize what I made.
I used a few tutorials to get to know the basics of AE, for the camera tracking and for the particles. But mostly I just looked through the effects and learned through experimenting.
I ended up learning a lot, I also learned about masks and graphing besides my other learning points. I used a lot of rotoscoping, which at first I wasn't aware existed.
I also learned that there were easier ways for a lot of things I did. For example; I ended up having to position and skew the text on the wall myself. This happened because I stretched the gameplay and therefore couldn't add the 3D camera tracking effect anymore.

I enjoyed learning about After Effects and am planning to continue using it!
